IKEA METOD is Austria's most popular kitchen system. Installation involves more than other furniture: leveling base units, mounting the wall rail system, cutting and sealing the worktop, aligning fronts. Each step depends on the previous one. If the base units aren't exactly level, doors and drawers will never close cleanly no matter how many times you adjust the hinges.
We install METOD kitchens in Vienna regularly and know the critical points: compensate for floor deviations before setting the cabinets. Anchor wall units above the worktop with adequate load capacity. Seal worktop seams watertight to prevent water getting into the base units.
What is included
We assemble all METOD kitchen components: base units with drawers (MAXIMERA, FÖRVARA), wall units, tall units, corner units with carousel or pull-out, the IKEA wall rail system, all front variants (AXSTAD, VOXTORP, KUNGSBACKA, BODBYN and all others), lighting strips and plinths. Plus worktop cutting, fitting and sealing the cut edges.
What we don't do: water connections (pipe connections for sink and dishwasher) and electrical connections (cooker connection, sockets behind the kitchen). We can recommend trusted partners in Vienna if needed.
How kitchen projects work
Kitchen assembly can't be usefully priced as a flat rate. A studio apartment has four base units; a large open-plan kitchen has twenty. We calculate a fixed price from the kitchen plan - either the IKEA planning document or a photo with measurements. From that we confirm a fixed price within 24 hours.
Why leveling the base units determines everything else
With METOD, leveling the base units is not the first step - it's the most important step. If one base unit sits 2 mm lower than its neighbor, the worktop won't lie flat. If a cabinet is slightly rotated, the door will never close flush with the frame no matter how you adjust the hinges.
We level all base units with spirit level and laser before a single cabinet is screwed in place. This takes longer than simply building them up. But it's the only way the worktop can lie flat, fronts can be aligned flush and drawers can close as cleanly after a year as they do on day one.
For METOD kitchens in Altbau apartments, always check the floor finish before setting the cabinets. If parquet or tiles are still to come, building the cabinets now means dismantling them afterwards.
