How It Works
Inquiry
Send us your TV model and a photo of the desired wall location via WhatsApp, email, or phone. For heavier TVs (25 kg and above), the wall type is especially important.
Secure Wall Mounting
First we scan the wall for cables and pipes. Then we determine the optimal height and position the bracket with laser alignment. For Altbau walls, we use heavy-duty special anchors. Cables are routed through an elegant channel or behind the wall on request.
Final Check & Cleanup
Together we check the secure hold, test the swivel and tilt function, and connect all devices. Drill dust is removed and the wall area is left clean.

Mounting a TV on the wall looks simple, but doing it wrong is expensive. A TV that pulls out of the wall, cables hanging loose, or a screen that sits crooked. We handle the full TV wall mounting in Vienna so none of that happens.
We work on every wall type. Altbau brick, drywall (Rigips), concrete, hollow brick - each one needs different anchors and a different technique.
TV Mounting on Altbau Walls and Drywall (Rigips)
Vienna's apartments have two common wall types: old Altbau brick and modern drywall. Both are tricky. Old brick can be soft and crumbly, so standard plugs don't grip reliably. Drywall is thin gypsum board - a regular plug spins right through and won't hold a TV's weight.
We use the right anchor for each situation. Heavy-duty plugs for Altbau masonry, hollow-wall anchors that spread behind the board for Rigips. For heavier TVs and swivel arms, we locate the metal studs with our scanner and anchor directly into them.
Cable Management: No Visible Cables
A clean install means no cables hanging down from the screen. We route cables through slim, wall-matching channels or hide them completely inside drywall. We also advise on the right height for your sofa position - most people hang the TV too high, which causes neck strain over time.
Soundbar, Gaming Setup and More
We mount soundbars, gaming consoles, and media boxes in the same visit. If you want your streaming devices connected and running when we leave, we take care of that too.
TV Mounting on Drywall (Rigips) in Vienna: The Right Anchors
A large proportion of Vienna's newer apartments and renovated Altbau units have drywall (Rigips) partitions. These 12.5 mm gypsum boards are structurally too soft for standard screws and anchors. A normal expansion plug simply spins in the gypsum without gripping, and over time the TV's weight pulls it free.
We use hollow-wall anchors that spread open behind the plasterboard and distribute the load across a wide area. For heavier TVs or swivel arms, we locate the metal studs behind the drywall with our scanner and anchor directly into them. In some cases, we install a reinforcement plate behind the gypsum board. The anchor types and their load ratings are in the comparison table below.
Never use standard expansion plugs (like Fischer S-plugs) or plastic drywall anchors for TV mounting. They are not designed for sustained heavy loads and will fail over time.
Professional Wall Scanning for Safe TV Mounting in Vienna
Before we make a single hole, we scan the entire mounting area with a professional-grade wall scanner. This device detects metal studs, electrical wiring, water pipes, and even the location and direction of cables inside the wall. In Vienna's older buildings, wiring often does not follow standard routing patterns, making scanning essential rather than optional.
The scanner also reveals the wall composition: solid brick, hollow brick, drywall, or concrete. This information determines which anchor type we use and whether we need to adjust the mounting position. We have encountered walls where moving the bracket just 5 centimeters avoided a water pipe that was in an unexpected location. This level of precaution protects both your home and your safety.
In Altbau buildings, electrical cables sometimes run diagonally or at non-standard heights. A professional scanner catches what a simple wire detector misses.
The Technical Knowledge Behind a Safe TV Mount
Leverage Forces on Swivel Brackets
We calculate leverage forces and reinforce the mounting points accordingly. Many DIY installations fail not because of the TV weight, but because of the underestimated forces created by swivel brackets.
VESA Standards and Bracket Compatibility
We verify VESA compatibility before arriving and bring the correct adapter plates if needed. An incompatible bracket means wasted time and additional holes in your wall.
Drywall Anchor Comparison for TV Mounting
| Anchor Type | Example | Load per Anchor (12.5mm board) | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metal toggle anchor | Fischer HM | up to 25 kg | Medium TVs, fixed brackets |
| Toggle bolt | Toggler | up to 30 kg | Large TVs, tilting brackets |
| Threaded sleeve anchor | Knauf Hartmut | up to 35 kg | Heavy TVs, swivel arms |
| Plastic drywall anchor | various | up to 5 kg | NOT suitable for TVs |
| Standard expansion plug | Fischer S | 0 kg in drywall | NOT suitable for drywall |
Load values for standard 12.5 mm single-layer gypsum board. Double-layer boards (2 x 12.5 mm) can handle significantly higher loads. Values are per anchor point; a typical TV bracket uses 4 to 6 anchor points.
Important Safety Notes
Never use plastic drywall anchors for TVs
Plastic screw-in drywall anchors (the red or blue ones from the hardware store) are rated for a few kilograms at most. They are designed for pictures and light shelves, not for a 15 to 25 kg television. Using them for TV mounting is a safety risk.
Always scan for cables before drilling
In Vienna's older buildings, electrical cables and water pipes often run in non-standard locations. Drilling into a live electrical cable can cause serious injury. We use a professional multi-sensor scanner on every job.
Swivel arms require reinforced mounting
A swivel arm creates leverage forces that multiply the TV's weight several times over. The mounting must account for these dynamic loads, not just the static weight of the television.
FAQs
Is it safe to mount a huge TV on a drywall?
Yes, if you use the right tools. We use special metal anchors that spread the weight behind the wall. Your TV will be safe and won't pull on the plasterboard.
Do you bring the wall bracket or do I need to buy one?
You can buy your own, or we can bring a high-quality bracket for you (fixed, tilting, or swivel). Just let us know what you need when you call.
Can you hide cables even if there is no space behind the wall?
Yes. If we cannot go inside the wall, we use very slim and clean cable channels that match your wall color. It looks much better than loose cables.
Will you hit a water pipe or electricity wire?
No. We always use a professional scanner before we drill. This shows us exactly where it is safe to make a hole, especially in old Viennese buildings.
What is the ideal height for mounting my TV?
The ideal mounting height depends on your seating position. As a rule of thumb, the center of the screen should be at eye level when sitting on the sofa, usually around 100 to 110 cm from the floor. Above a fireplace or in a kitchen, it can be higher. We advise you on-site and find the perfect position together.
Which wall bracket is right for my TV?
That depends on screen size, weight, and how much you want the TV to swivel. For larger TVs, we recommend a full-motion bracket so you can adjust the viewing angle. If you don't have a bracket yet, we can advise and bring a suitable model.
Can a 75-inch TV hang safely on a drywall (Rigips)?
Yes, but only with the right technique. For drywall walls, we use special hollow-wall anchors or mount a reinforcement plate behind the plasterboard that distributes the load across a larger area. This way even a heavy 75-inch TV hangs with complete safety.
Can you run cables completely hidden inside the wall?
For drywall (Rigips), concealed cable routing is often possible. We cut a narrow channel and close it cleanly. For solid brick walls, we typically recommend a flat surface-mounted cable channel matched to the wall color. Both solutions look significantly better than loose hanging cables. Note: In Austria, mains power cables may only be installed inside walls by licensed electricians. HDMI, network, and audio cables are not subject to this restriction, and we handle those directly.
How much does TV wall mounting cost in Vienna?
TV wall mounting in Vienna starts from €99 for a standard 32-55 inch TV. A larger TV (55-75 inch) with a swivel bracket costs from €139. Cable channel installation is from €49 extra. The exact price depends on wall type, TV size, and whether cable management is included. We give you a fixed price before we start - no surprises.
How long does TV wall mounting take?
A standard TV on a straightforward wall is done in 45 to 60 minutes, including a cable channel. With a swivel arm and in-wall cable routing, allow 60 to 90 minutes. On Altbau brick walls or where the wall type is unclear, we always run the wall scan first, which adds 10 to 15 minutes.
Is TV wall mounting allowed in a rented apartment?
Yes. Fixing a TV bracket is considered normal use of the apartment in Austria and is permitted in most rental agreements. On moving out, the drill holes must be properly filled and painted. We work just as carefully in rentals as in owner-occupied apartments — holes kept to the minimum, no unnecessary damage.
