Brackets should sit at least 10 to 15 cm above the window frame so the curtain falls clear of the glass when open. The rod should extend 15 to 20 cm beyond the window width on each side. We advise on the best position on site.

Ceiling Track Installation Vienna: Floor-to-Ceiling Curtains, No Visible Bracket
Ceiling tracks are mounted directly on the ceiling or close to it. They allow curtains that run from ceiling to floor, which makes rooms feel taller. For concrete ceilings we use concrete anchors; for drywall ceilings we fix into the structural framework behind.
Roller Blind and Pleated Blind Installation Vienna: No-Drill or Drilled
Blinds come in two mounting options. No-drill (Klemmfix) systems clamp into the window frame without drilling. This works well for standard lighter blinds, but has limits with heavy blackout blinds or plastic frames without enough clamping surface.
Drilled wall or frame mounting is more stable and is the only option for blackout blinds with side guide rails that eliminate every light gap. We advise which variant makes sense for your windows.

In the area directly above windows, Altbau buildings often have roller shutter boxes, concrete or old brick lintels, and occasionally electrical cables. Before we drill above any window frame, we always scan that area. Drilling into a roller shutter channel is expensive to repair.
In many Viennese Altbau buildings, the wall directly above the window is made of a different material to the surrounding wall, often a concrete lintel or mixed old brickwork. We identify this with the scanner and select the right anchor.
For ceiling tracks on concrete ceilings: reinforcement steel in the concrete can limit where you can drill. We scan for rebar and adjust the track position before drilling.

Yes, with the right anchors. In drywall we use hollow-wall anchors or fix directly into the metal studs behind the board. For heavier curtains we spread the load across more fixing points.
Can a curtain rod be mounted without drilling?▾
Tension rods work without drilling, but only for light curtains and smooth window frames. For heavier curtains or textile rails, wall mounting with anchors is the only reliably long-term option.
