We handle lamp installation in Vienna: ceiling lamps, pendant lights, wall lamps, chandeliers and outdoor lights. We install at the existing connection. The first lamp costs €60 including travel, each additional one in the same visit from €40. You know the fixed price upfront.
Before connecting, we switch off the breaker and check with a voltage tester. Before every hole, we scan the ceiling or wall. At the end the lamp hangs straight, and we take the packaging with us.
Ceiling Lamp and Pendant Light Installation
There is usually a ceiling outlet already, the point where the wires come out of the ceiling. We fix the bracket, connect the fitting and set the height for pendant lights. Over a dining table, 60 to 80 cm above the tabletop is a good guide.
Wall Lamp Installation
If there is a wall outlet at the spot, we connect the lamp directly. If the lamp has a cable with a plug, we run it in a conduit to the nearest socket. A conduit in the wall colour hardly shows and can be removed later in a rented flat.
Chandeliers and Heavy Pendant Lights
A large chandelier easily weighs 10 kg or more. The supplied bracket often isn't made for that. We check what the ceiling is made of and set a hook that carries the weight with a margin.
Outdoor Lamps at Entrance, Balcony and Facade
We mount outdoor lamps at the existing outdoor connection, with anchors for exterior walls and a sealed cable entry. First we check that the lamp's protection rating (the IP number) suits the spot.
If There Is No Connection Yet
A new cable, a new outlet or an extra switch is electrical installation work. An external licensed electrician does that. Then we mount the lamp. We clarify upfront whether you need it.
Lamps in Vienna's Altbau: What Is Different
Altbau ceilings often have stucco that must not chip when drilling. The plaster is old and sometimes crumbly. A ceiling hook set decades ago is therefore not always solid.
The wiring is often older too. We look at the connection before we wire in the new fitting. If the insulation is brittle or the protective earth (the green-yellow wire) is missing, we tell you. Then the connection needs a licensed electrician first.
Pull on the old ceiling hook before a heavy fitting goes on it. If it gives, it needs replacing. We check this on every installation.
Hanging Heavy Lights and Chandeliers Safely
With heavy fittings, the fixing matters more than the lamp. We choose it by ceiling type: heavy-duty anchors in concrete, fixing to the framework in drywall, suitable anchors in brick. The anchor's rated load must be above the weight of the fitting, with a margin.
We secure the fitting so it doesn't work loose through cleaning or vibration.
Many pendant lights come with a canopy bracket made for only a few kilos. For heavier fittings we fit a stronger bracket that stays hidden under the canopy.

Many people can fit a light ceiling lamp at a sound connection themselves. For heavy fittings, Altbau ceilings or wall lamps, it's worth having us do it.
Important Safety Notes
Switch Off Doesn't Mean Power Off
If a switch is wired wrongly, the ceiling connection can still be live. That's why we switch off the breaker and check with a voltage tester before every connection.
The Wrong Hook in Old Plaster
A heavy fitting on a standard hook in crumbly Altbau plaster can come loose over time. We check the ceiling and set an anchor that matches the weight.

Do I need an electrician for lamp installation?
Not if there is already a connection. We mount and connect lamps at an existing ceiling or wall outlet ourselves. A new cable, a new outlet or a new switch needs an external licensed electrician. Then we mount the lamp.
Can my ceiling hold a heavy pendant light?
It depends on the ceiling. In concrete, a suitable heavy-duty anchor holds even a heavy chandelier. Drywall and hollow ceilings take less. There we fix to the framework behind or use cavity anchors. If there is no hook, or the old one is loose, we set a new one. We tell you what your ceiling can hold before we start.
How is the cable hidden on a wall lamp?
With a wall outlet we connect directly, so no cable shows. Without one, we run the plug cable in a conduit to the socket. If you want the cable invisible inside the wall, that's a new cable run. An external licensed electrician installs it.
Can you install several lamps in one visit?
Yes. For 3 lamps or more you get a package price, and you save extra trips. You can add shelves, curtain rods or mirrors to the same visit.
Do I need to buy the lamp myself?
Yes, you buy the lamp. We bring everything for the installation: anchors, hooks, connectors, cable conduit and tools.
Do you work outside Vienna?
Yes, for example in Klosterneuburg, Mödling, Schwechat and Perchtoldsdorf. Just ask and you get a price including travel.
