The tap has been dripping for weeks. The bathroom door scrapes the floor. The pull-up bar is still in its box. Small things like these wait, because they seem too small for their own appointment. For us they are a normal job. We handle small jobs across Vienna, from a single light switch to the whole list.
You pay by time: €60 for the first hour including travel, then €50 per hour. Most small jobs take 20 to 45 minutes, so we often finish two or three in the first hour.
Replacements: taps, shower heads, light switches
We fit a new kitchen or basin tap to the existing angle valves, with new flexible hoses and a leak test afterwards. Shower heads, hoses, shower rails and aerators take a few minutes. If the tap splutters or the flow is weak, the aerator (the small filter at the tip of the tap) is often just clogged with limescale.
We replace light switches, sockets and cover frames on the existing wiring, old for new. For example when a switch has come loose or you want a new design. Anything beyond that is done by an external licensed electrician (see below). For ceiling and wall lights, see Lamp Installation Vienna.
Door and furniture repairs
If an interior door sticks, scrapes or won't latch, adjusting the hinges almost always fixes it. In Altbau apartments the door frame has often shifted over decades. Often one millimetre in the right place is enough. We replace door handles while we're there.
For furniture, we fix torn-out hinges, sagging cabinet doors, sticking drawer runners and loose fittings. If a screw no longer holds in chipboard, we fill the hole with a wooden dowel and glue. A thicker screw only holds for a while.

Replacing a tap: what matters in Vienna apartments
Buy the tap before the visit and send us the product name. Then we know whether the supplied hoses fit your angle valves (usually 3/8 inch).
Light switches and sockets: what we do and what the electrician does
If the wires behind the cover look discoloured or brittle, we don't just carry on. That's a job for the electrician.
Important Safety Notes
Switch off doesn't mean power off
In older apartments a switch is sometimes wired the wrong way round. Then the cable is live even with the light off. That's why we always turn off the breaker and test, even for a simple swap.
A leaking tap often shows up days later
A misplaced seal or a twisted hose barely drips at first. Water collects in the base cabinet until the board swells. We test every connection under pressure and leave a dry cloth underneath so you can check it yourself over the next few days.

How much does a handyman for small jobs cost in Vienna?
We bill by time: €60 for the first hour including travel, then €50 per hour. €60 is also the minimum per visit. Several short jobs share the first hour. When the scope is clear, we're also happy to give you a fixed price.
Do you come for just one small thing?
Yes. A dripping tap or a door that won't close is a normal job for us. The minimum of €60 per visit applies. If there's anything else on your list, it's worth mentioning it too.
Are you allowed to replace light switches and sockets?
Yes, like-for-like replacement on the existing cable. New sockets, new cables, changes to the circuit and the fuse box are done by an external licensed electrician.
Do you replace kitchen or bathroom taps?
Yes, on existing angle valves: kitchen taps, basin taps, shower heads, hoses, shower rails and aerators. Angle valves, siphons, toilet cisterns and new pipework are not part of small jobs. They need a plumber. If we spot a problem like that on site, we tell you before we start.
Do I need to buy the parts myself?
It's your choice. We carry common small materials (anchors, screws, seals, silicone, flexible hoses). For taps, switches or handles, many clients prefer to choose the design themselves. Send us the product name beforehand and we'll check it fits.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Usually within a few days. We normally reply within an hour and suggest specific dates. A dripping tap doesn't need an expensive weekend emergency service.
Can I get a fixed price instead of hourly?
Yes. When the scope is clear, for example three specific jobs, we're happy to give you a fixed price upfront. For mixed lists, billing by time is usually fairer for you, because you pay only for the time actually needed.
