In Vienna's Altbau apartments, floors and walls are rarely straight. If the cabinets stand crooked, doors and drawers stick and the worktop isn't level. So we measure first, compensate, then install.
Having an IKEA METOD Kitchen Installed
With METOD, the order matters. First we level the base cabinets with a laser. Then we anchor the hanging rail in solid masonry, with a wall scanner before every hole. Next come the wall cabinets and the worktop. Finally we adjust fronts, hinges and drawers.

No plan yet? Then we plan the kitchen with you. Send us the room measurements, photos and a few lines: how often do you cook, which appliances go in, what bothers you about the old kitchen? We tell you honestly what works in daily life. You get the plan and the finished shopping list, check everything in your own time and order from IKEA yourself. If we install the kitchen afterwards, the planning is free.
What we look at when planning:
- Connections: water, drain and cooker outlet stay where they are. We place the sink and hob so that new lines are avoided where possible, and tell you upfront if they're needed.
- Gas boiler: many Vienna Altbau kitchens have a wall-mounted boiler (Therme). It needs clearance from the wall cabinets and must stay accessible for servicing.
- Drawers instead of doors in base cabinets: you see everything from above and don't have to kneel.
- Uneven walls and high ceilings: we plan cover panels and plinths from the start, so nothing is missing on installation day.
If a part on our list doesn't fit, we take care of the exchange. The extra visit costs you nothing.
Built-in Kitchens from Other Brands
Kitchens from Nobilia, Häcker, Nolte or Schüller usually arrive as ready-built cabinets. We put them together, level them and fix them to wall and floor. Plinths and worktop are included.
Old Kitchen Out, New One In
On request we remove the old kitchen right before the new installation. For a standard kitchen line, removal and installation usually fit into one day.
Cutting and Sealing the Worktop
The worktop is the most delicate part of any kitchen installation. Every cut for the sink, hob or wall fit exposes raw particleboard. With steam and splashing water, an unsealed edge can swell within a few months.
We saw the cutouts with splinter protection and seal every open edge before the sink or hob goes in. The joint to the wall gets a continuous bead of mould-resistant sanitary silicone.
The most common cause of kitchen water damage is not a leaking pipe, it's an unsealed edge at the sink cutout.
Precise Cabinet Alignment, Even on Sloped Altbau Floors
All base cabinets have to stand on one level line. Only then does the worktop sit properly. In Vienna's Altbau apartments the floor often drops several centimetres across a kitchen. If one cabinet sits too low, you get a gap under the worktop and the doors don't line up.
We set a reference line with a laser and adjust each cabinet's feet individually. Wall cabinets carry 30 to 50 kg of dishes, so the rail is anchored in solid masonry, not just in plaster.
Skip the leveling on a single base cabinet and the whole worktop shifts.
Water and Power: What We Do and What the Electrician Does
We connect sink, siphon and dishwasher to the existing angle valves and drain and check every connection for leaks. Plug-in appliances are included too.
Cookers and hobs usually have a fixed connection to the cooker outlet. In Austria, only a licensed electrician may make that connection. We plan it in and coordinate the appointment, so the kitchen works completely at the end.

Important Safety Notes
Water damage from unsealed edges
Every worktop cut exposes raw wood. Without sealing, water damage can appear within weeks.
Cooker and hob only by an electrician
A wrongly connected hob is a fire risk. The fixed connection belongs in the hands of a licensed electrician.
Gas connections
For a gas cooker, only a licensed specialist may make the gas connection.

What if new lines are needed?
New water or power lines and gas connections are not part of kitchen installation. They need a licensed specialist. We check upfront from your kitchen plan whether that's needed. So there's no surprise on installation day.
How do you prevent the worktop from swelling?
Every cut edge, for example for the sink and hob, is sealed before the sink goes in. The joint to the wall gets sanitary silicone. An unsealed edge at the sink cutout is the most common reason a worktop gets ruined.
How long does a complete kitchen installation take?
A standard kitchen line (up to 3 m) including connections usually takes one day. Larger L-shaped or U-shaped kitchens take one to one and a half days. You get a time estimate with the quote.
What do I need to prepare before the appointment?
Not much. The boxes are in the kitchen or right next to it, and the room is empty. Water and power connections should already be in the right place. Not sure? Send us a photo of the wall and we'll tell you upfront.
Can you add individual kitchen cabinets later?
Yes, we install individual base or wall cabinets from €79 each. Useful if you're extending the kitchen or buying a tall cabinet later.
Do I need to remove the old kitchen myself first?
No, we can remove the old kitchen on request, right before the new installation on the same day.
Can you plan my IKEA kitchen?
Yes. Send us the room measurements, photos and what you need. We plan the kitchen with you, check connections, boiler and appliances, and you get the plan and the shopping list. You order from IKEA yourself. If we install it afterwards, the planning is free. If a part on our list doesn't fit, we take care of the exchange, and the extra visit costs you nothing.
